How do 1,200 people from across the Commonwealth of Kentucky come together as one united body in which each individual has the opportunity to be a part of an organization where their unique qualities are illuminated? The Kentucky United Nations Assembly, KUNA. KUNA is an example of how students from across the state of Kentucky join together as one united body in order to address real-world problems that countries all across the globe face. Unity is the factor which makes KUNA a life-changing event for people of all backgrounds and ethnicities. The gathering is the epitome of unity.

Throughout KUNA, there are many examples of different people uniting. The assembly began with a presentation of each of the represented countries’ flags. This symbolizes a united, peaceful front where total strangers, or best friends, join together to not only present their country’s flag but to also engage in positive discussions in which an agreement can be reached.

Another component of KUNA is a portion called Global Village. In this portion, each delegation constructs a replica of a scenario that could possibly be happening in various countries. In one particular Global Village, there was a large sheet of paper with various shapes that students were encouraged to paint. At the end of the day, the paper was filled with shapes all coming together to make an intricate design. This display represents the purpose of the Kentucky United Nations Assembly, bringing hundreds of people together to form a beautiful piece of work.
