As you all know, the Crowne Plaza is currently housing the third 2018 KYA conference. The hotel is where meetings happen, where all the students eat, and where all the students sleep; or at least that’s what most of you believe. With every passing year, the conference grows larger and larger. As of recent, the hotel has reached its maximum number of occupants. To solve this problem and to provide every student with a place to sleep, the “higher-ups” have decided to place the students that the hotel does not have room for in the neighboring hotel, the Hilton tru. The students who have been blessed/cursed (depending on how you interpret it) with rooms in the other hotel have provided their insight.

Logan Bowman, a Rockcastle County High School student who has previously attended four other KYAs said that he enjoys staying in another hotel. When he first learned that he would not be staying in the Crowne Plaza, he thought, “what in the world.” He said that now that he has spent some time in it, his favorite parts are the pool table in the lobby and the fact that it is a brand new hotel. He says that he has no negative feed back and would highly recommends this to any other student going to KYA.

Kylee Fain is also a student from Rockcastle County. She has previously attended five other KYAs. Overall, she reports that the experience has been positive. She initially thought, “No.” She did not like the idea of staying in a second hotel, across the street from the main one. But, she learned that there are some positive to the hotel. She says that she enjoys the staff the most. She reports that the staff provided her delegation with free refreshments. She also enjoys the games that are available in the lobby and the twenty four seven food market. She also reports that she is not fond of the commute between the main hotel and her hotel, but in the end, she also said that she would recommend this experience to any student attending KYA.

Overall, it seems as though most students are opposed to staying in a different hotel initially but grow to love it. The neighboring hotel, although smaller, is a much more personal experience for students. The hotel has games, a lively staff, and food that is always available. The Hilton tru has proven to be a positive part of the lives of the students who occupy it.
