HS KYA 3 — Day 2 Recap

Welcome to Day 2 of KYA 3! Last night students were encouraged to
participate in “Optional Mandatory Fun”. During this time students could jump in on the Zoom calls for Trivia, Gather Town, Wiki Races, Talent Stage, and/or the Silent Disco. Ultimately the night was filled with raps, dance parties, and so much more. After the fun last night wrapped up students were encouraged to get a good night’s sleep, so they were rested and ready for Day 2!

The morning started out with some quick specialized group meetings, and
during our meetings, the media team heard speeches from their candidates for the new Editor-in-Chief. These meetings were followed by the Day 2 Opening Session. The session began with our Secretary of State Ian Simpson, who introduced our Commonwealth finalist candidates: Arden Ensor, Chaney Garrison, Kauner Shacklette, Leah Hibbitts, Lily York, and Molly Craig. All of the candidates made another short speech, reminded us of their platforms, and shared their slogans one last time voting began. The session ended with our Governor Omar Abd-Elhamid sending delegates to debate.

Voting began shortly after the session, and delegates moved into their
chambers. The Commonwealth House decided to kick off their session with a
quick dance party!
