Everyone knows the position in which the candidates reside at KYA. The immense pressure, the desire to succeed, and the sharing of their platforms on which they stand. You see them throughout the conference, scrambling to speak at the next bill presentation or dashing through the halls. But have you met the candidates? Do you know what their policies are? Fret not my dear delegate, for I have the informative piece for you!

Let’s meet the Candidates!

Lauren Wood is from DuPont Manual High School. Her platforms are Fighting Food Insecurity Among Students, the Encouragement of Green Development, and Improving Rural Healthcare.

Emerson Harned is from Sacred Heart Academy. Her platforms are supporting Early Childhood Education, Gender Equality, and fighting the Opioid Epidemic.

Emily Erbar is from Sayre School. Her platforms are Supporting Hungry Teens in Public Schools, Animal Welfare, and the aiding of Driver Safety.

Peyton Burnham is from Assumption High School. Her platforms are waste reduction in the form of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Helping the homeless find jobs, and Giving Felons the Right to Vote.

Will Schindler is from Scott County High School. His platforms are Decriminalizing Marijuana, Fighting Government Corruption, and Uniting against Climate Change.

Parker Stewart is from Sayre School. His platforms are Human Trafficking Prevention, the Training of Coal Miners in Renewable Energy Jobs, and the Improvement of Kentucky’s Rehabilitation Facilities.

Marilyn Buente is from DuPont Manual High School. Her platforms are Environmental Preservation through Renewable Energy, Social Equity and Anti — Discrimination Laws, and the Preservation and Support of Kentucky’s Education System.

Landin Stadnyk is from Great Crossing High School. His platforms are Reducing Food Insecurity, Restoring Felons’ Rights, and the Reduction of Medicine Costs.

Sophie Holtzman is from Villa Madonna Academy. Her platforms are Diversity Awareness, Voter Equality, and Mental Health Education.

Erin Lewantowicz is from Assumption High School. Her platforms are Mental Health Awareness, Child Abuse Prevention, and the Reduction of Carbon Dioxide Emissions.

Claire Billman is from Sacred Heart Academy. Her platforms are Mental Health, Civic Engagement, and Broadband Access.

So now that you know the candidates; go out and lend your ears to the Candidate speeches and cast your newly informed ballots!
